Dr. Greg Friesz is one of the four Regional Directors of Nursing Services for UTMB Correctional Managed Care for the State of Texas. He oversees 525+ nursing staff members in 22 corrections units covering the Houston, Beaumont, Galveston, and College Station areas. He has taught for the University of Phoenix and Lamar University Beaumont graduate nursing programs since 2010. He has been a national and international appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Pathway to Excellence program since 2014. Dr. Firesz holds board certifications as a Nurse Executive-Advanced from the ANCC, Public Health Nurse with the California Board of Nursing, and as a Certified Corrections Nurse Manager (CCN/M) with the American Corrections Association. He was president of District 12 for the Texas Nurses Association for two terms. Dr. Friesz is also a legal nurse consultant. He has been a nurse for 30 years, and for 20 of those, he has held various leadership positions including house supervisor, service line director, Magnet Program Coordinator, and Chief Nursing Officer.
