Shelly Weizman is Acting Director of the Addiction & Public Policy Initiative at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law and an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown Law. Her portfolio focuses on public health approaches to drug policies and how the law can promote access to treatment and support recovery. Previously, Ms. Weizman served in the Office of the Governor of New York where she oversaw policy and operations related to addiction, mental health, and disabilities. She began her legal career as a civil rights attorney in New York City. She is also a person in long-term recovery from addiction, celebrating more than 20 years in recovery.
