Description

This session equips participants to collect and analyze meaningful data about their facilities’ incarcerated populations and apply those insights to evidence-based solutions that enhance safety, reduce uses of force, and improve outcomes. Leadership principles, decision-making foundations, strategic planning, and goal setting provide the framework for translating data into action in today’s evolving correctional landscape.

Educational Objectives

  • Identify how detention-based data analytics can be used to track mental health indicators, use-of-force incidents, overdoses, and other negative outcomes to support informed operational and staffing decisions
  • Explain how integrated programs can be evaluated using data to reduce suicides, overdoses, use of force, and recidivism
  • Demonstrate how care and safety can be improved by sharing analytics information between custody staff, medical providers, behavioral health partners, local law enforcement agencies, and community stakeholders
