Program Psychiatric Medical Director
Dr. Thompson oversees 20 psychiatric providers who provide care for the 6,000 inmates in the Massachusetts Department of Correction as well as a court-ordered substance use treatment facility and the sex offender treatment facility. He has 15 years of experience working in a correctional setting and has been doing forensic-related work for 22 years. In the past he has been a unit medical director at Tewksbury State Hospital and while working on a forensic unit at the Erich Lindemann Center in Boston, was also on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and associated with Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in psychiatry and sub-specialty certified in forensic psychiatry.
