Ashley Phelps, Ph.D., is the Regional Behavioral Health Director for Armor Health, providing oversight and clinical supervision to correctional behavioral health programs at sites in Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Maine, Virginia, and Texas. She also works with Armor's Behavioral Health Leadership Team to drive quality and clinical initiatives across the organization. Dr. Phelps is a licensed psychologist in Kansas and Colorado. Prior to joining the Armor team, Dr. Phelps served as the Regional Behavioral Health Director with Corizon Health, where she oversaw behavioral health programs serving approximately 10,000 inmates throughout the Kansas Department of Corrections. She also previously worked at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo for eight years, where she started as a Staff Psychologist then later served as a Forensic Evaluator and the Director of a Sexual Offender Treatment and Evaluation Program. Dr. Phelps was a member of the Suicide Prevention Summit Taskforce that produced the current Suicide Prevention Resource Guide for the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, and she has extensive experience training multidisciplinary staff on issues related to behavioral health in the correctional setting.
