303 Raising the Next Generation: Supervision Within Corrections
Description

Supervision is a critical component of a mental health professional’s development. The relationship between supervisor and supervisee is correlated with improved trainee self-efficacy and positive client outcomes. However, both postgraduate and graduate supervisees report experiencing inadequate supervision. This presentation will explore strategies for improving the supervisory relationship with new correctional mental health professionals. Case examples will help illustrate the impact of supervision on trainee and patient outcomes and how barriers can be addressed.
