Dr. Bickham is the Program Psychiatrist for the Jail Based Competency Restoration Program and has served in many capacities over her 30 year career. Dr. Bickham completed her residency in psychiatry and her fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine. She then took a faculty position at Baylor while serving as the Medical Director of Emergency Psychiatric Services at Ben Taub General Hospital. Dr. Bickham has also served internationally to include medical missions in South America at a hospice facility for patients with advanced Huntington’s disease. Upon her return to the US, she continued to teach at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Department of Neuro-Oncology before transitioning to the Harris County Jail in 2005. Dr. Bickham was the attending psychiatrist for the Mental Health Infirmary Unit before bringing her years of expertise to the JBCR program.
