After experiencing an increase in suicides, executive leadership at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice convened a multidisciplinary team from a variety of disciplines to review the issue of suicide, identify gaps in response, and formulate solutions. Approaching the issue from a multidisciplinary perspective removed silos between internal partners, provided new insight on the problem, and allowed for creative solutions. The presenters will review where they began, discuss lessons learned, highlight initiatives implemented throughout the agency, and share positive outcomes.
