Program Psychiatric Medical Director
Dr. Thompson oversees 20 psychiatric providers who provide the care for the 7,000 inmates in the Massachusetts Department of Corrections as well as a court ordered Substance Use Treatment Facility and the Sex Offender Treatment facility. He has 14 years of experience working in a correctional setting and has been doing forensic-related work for 21 years. In the past, he was a unit medical director at Tewksbury State Hospital and, while working on a forensic unit at the Erich Lindemann Center in Boston, was on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and associated with Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in psychiatry and sub-specialty certified in forensic psychiatry.
