Dr. Melissa S. Caldwell is an award-winning clinical-forensic psychologist and chief behavioral health officer at Freedom Behavioral Health, where she leads behavioral health professionals across 16 states. A former correctional officer with more than 30 years of experience in corrections, she holds dual NCCHC certifications as a Certified Correctional Health Professional–Mental Health (CCHP-MH) and Advanced Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP-A).
Dr. Caldwell specializes in correctional behavioral health, suicide prevention, forensic consultation, and wellness initiatives for first responders. She is a nationally recognized speaker, expert witness, and consultant and was the recipient of NCCHC’s 2022 Edward A. Harrison Award of Excellence in Correctional Health Care Leadership for her contributions to the field.
