Dr. Novalis is a psychiatrist who has been in Las Vegas for the last 20 years. He received his BA from Columbia University, a PhD from Johns Hopkins University, and an MD from the University of Maryland. He completed his residency in psychiatry at the District of Columbia Commission on Mental Health Services, including the internationally known St. Elizabeths Hospital, which was the first federal mental hospital in the United States. Most of his career has been in public psychiatry, including federal and state prisons, the Veterans Administration, and state psychiatric hospitals. He recently retired from Wellpath, the well-known provider of services to correctional facilities. Dr. Novalis is the primary author of the Clinical Manual of Supportive Psychotherapy (2021) and Psychotherapy in Corrections (just published).
