Mrs. Susan Richardson is certified in both geriatrics and psychiatry by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and has worked as a nurse practitioner for the past 28 years. In 2005, she obtained a post-master's certification in psychiatry and has been working in the field ever since. She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including 11 years in community mental health, and has dealt with complex patients suffering from chronic mental illness as well as multiple medical comorbidities. Currently she is working at the Massachusetts Correctional Care Institute in Framingham, MA which is the only women's prison in the state. She provides medication management for inmates who may be in prison for anything from a short period of time to inmates who are in prison for natural life. She sees a wide range of psychiatric conditions as well as significant substance abuse.
