Dr. James Thompson oversees 20 psychiatric providers who provide care for the 5,500 inmates in the Massachusetts Department of Correction as well as a court-ordered substance use treatment facility and the sex offender treatment facility. He has 16 years of experience working in a correctional setting and has been doing forensic-related work for 23 years. In the past, he has been a Unit Medical Director at Tewksbury State Hospital and, while working on a forensic unit at the Erich Lindemann Center in Boston, was also on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and associated with Harvard Medical School. He is board- certified in psychiatry and sub-specialty certified in forensic psychiatry.
