Dr. Pracha Peter Eamranond has spent his career dedicated to furthering the health of underprivileged populations. Dr. Eamranond has taught practice of medicine and social medicine courses at Harvard Medical School for 2 decades. He has focused on mass incarceration since its addition to the curriculum several years ago and currently serves as national medical director for Wexford Health, improving the standard of health care for incarcerated populations across the country. He previously led initiatives as chief medical officer within the New Hampshire Department of Corrections to improve prevention and treatment of opioid use disorder, mental illness, cardiovascular risk, and infectious diseases among patients in correctional facilities. He has worked alongside Dartmouth to successfully reduce recidivism through a community-based reentry program. His efforts are focused on improving the health of disadvantaged populations, with a particular emphasis on incarcerated populations with a high burden of substance abuse and complex medical/mental health illness.
