Mrs. Nury Marcelo is the Chief Nursing Officer for Cermak Cook County Department of Corrections and has served as the Director of Operations at DuPage County Correctional Center. She began her career at Advocate Masonic Medical Center in Chicago before joining the field of corrections. She has worked in correctional medicine for over 10 years. Mrs. Marcelo has a strong passion for correctional nursing and has been an advocate for increasing the voice and visibility of this unique field. In 2019, Mrs. Marcelo was recognized by the American Nurses Association as a recipient of the 40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leader Award for her work and advancement in for the field of correctional nursing. She currently holds a master’s degree in nursing education and completed a nurse practitioner degree at DePaul University to not only to further her education, but ultimately to bring awareness to the scope and practice of nurses in correctional medicine.
