Ms. Shena Patel is a supervising institutional nurse for Riverside County. She has worked for the County for 11 years, and the last 5 years have been in corrections. Ms. Patel started as a nurse educator and then moved into administration. She has a master’s degree in nursing and education, and received her CCHP last year during the NCCHC conference. Prior to working in corrections she worked as a public health nurse, case manager, hospice nurse, and med-surg charge nurse. All of her roles have gravitated toward education and developing lesson plans. Ms. Patel has recently created a medical lesson plan for correctional officers which is used statewide.
