Mr. Akil Salter began working with the incarcerated population in 2011 funded by the same office of current employment; New York State Department of Health, AIDS Institute (NYS DOH AI). From there he continued his work within HIV, STI and Hepatitis C prevention through various roles from front line worker to supervisor of programs. Transitioning to the NYS DOH AIDS Institute in 2019, Akil is experienced in HIV, STI and Hepatitis C work with disenfranchised populations promoting health equity, social determinants of health, and client centered care.
