Dr. Gretchen Hermes, MD, PhD is the medical director of the methadone and suboxone programs in New Haven County Correctional Center. She is also the medical director of the APT Foundation, a 60-year-old cornerstone treatment facility for individuals with substance use disorders and mental illness in New Haven, CT. Dr. Hermes directs the Yale Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at the Foundation and is assistant professor of psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine. Her current research at the Yale Stress Center focuses on the effects of adrenergic receptor agonists on drug craving and withdrawal as well as large cohort studies on the long-ranging effects of early life trauma and acute stress.
