Description

The community standard has moved toward direct-acting oral anticoagulation as this is demonstrated to be more effective than traditional warfarin, safe, and convenient. However, with average costs of $500 per month, costs have prevented widespread adoption of these medications in correctional settings. This presentation analyzes the recent guideline changes that have influenced this community standard and examines benefits and risks of several common anticoagulation protocols.
