157 Role of the Clinical Pharmacist in Transgender Care*

Transgender patients are a medically vulnerable population and historically face stigma and barriers to gender-affirming care. In the ICE Health Service Corps, clinical pharmacists have the training and medical expertise to be patient advocates and primary medical providers for these patients, and they serve as subject matter experts for transgender noncitizens in custody. Care requires an open and compassionate patient-provider relationship, intensive counseling, and laboratory-based medication management.
