Description

Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) remains a major public health crisis, with significant implications for individuals, families, and communities. This keynote will explore the latest evidence-based approaches to the treatment of OUD, emphasizing strategies grounded in scientific research and best clinical practices. Attendees will gain insight into the effectiveness of medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone, as well as the role of behavioral therapies in comprehensive treatment models. The presentation will also address barriers to access, stigma, and the importance of integrating mental health and substance use treatment for improved patient outcomes. Through case studies and data-driven insights, this session will equip mental health professionals with practical tools to enhance treatment engagement, reduce overdose risk, and support long-term recovery in diverse care settings, including correctional and community health environments.
