121 The Impact of Compassion Fatigue, Burnout, and Bullying*+
Description
A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative correlational research and qualitative grounded theory examined the relationship among compassion fatigue, burnout, and bullying experienced by correctional nurses. Participants reported frequent instances of mistreatment, intimidation, and unprofessional behavior by coworkers, supervisors, and management. The study team developed a visual model to identify levels of bullying, burnout, and compassion fatigue, enabling assessment of their overall impact on individuals, teams, and agencies.
