Description

This session will describe a major initiative to implement trauma-informed, evidence-based treatment in a correctional setting. Evidence-based treatment criteria included SAMHSA guidelines, positive psychology, chemical dependency counseling, trauma groups, and individual counseling. The program's success was measured in the best rates of recidivism seen in the state. Attendees will discuss best practices for implementation and the benefits of this type of treatment to the patient and staff.
