Dr. Monica L. Gerrek is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioethics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland and also the Co-Director of the Center for Biomedical Ethics and the Institute of Burn Ethics at MetroHealth System. She has a PhD in philosophy and completed the two-year Cleveland Fellowship in Advanced Bioethics, a collaboration between Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth System, University Hospitals, Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, and Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Gerrek has published and presented locally, nationally, and internationally on a variety of topics, including correctional health care ethics and burn ethics. Dr. Gerrek's professional interests include the ethics of correctional healthcare, burn ethics, and the ethics of addiction.
