112 Interdisciplinary Approach to Successful Reentry*
Description

The philosophy of Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office is that re-entry begins on day one of the commitment, with risk assessments determining each justice-involved individual’s initial needs. As those needs change, different disciplines within the Sheriff's Office and community partners come together in an interdisciplinary approach to providing the right level and type of support. Learn how this approach can make a difference in reducing recidivism and helping these individuals become positive members of the community after release.

Learning Objectives:

  • List the internal and external “stakeholders” involved in an effective interdisciplinary approach to re-entry
  • Discuss how the community continuum of care is critical to the success of justice-involved individuals.
  • Identify how a post-release community support center is an essential component for re-entry
