Laura Watson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who serves as the Clinical Supervisor over a 227 bed subacute, behavioral health unit in a medium security men?s prison.  She has worked in this unit for the last 11 years. She facilitates the specialized mental health training for the security officers who are selected to work in this unit. She also oversees six master?s level clinicians, four psychiatric technicians, and a psychiatric treatment coordinator. Before coming to the Department of Corrections, Laura worked as a clinician with the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections and also spent time doing private practice and overseeing mental health services in the community. She graduated with her Master?s Degree in Social Work from Walla Walla College in 2006. Since that time she has also become a licensed clinical supervisor and provides supervision to those social workers and counselors working to obtain their clinical endorsements through the Bureau of Occupational Licenses.
