Dr. Mulkerin is the Chief Medical Officer for the County of San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office. She has been in this position since 2018, overseeing the medical, mental health, and dental care for inmates in the County Jail. Dr. Mulkerin moved to this position after working as the Deputy Health Officer for Public Health from 2016 to 2018.  Dr. Mulkerin received her B.A. in human biology from Stanford University in 1999, and her M.D. from University of California, Irvine in 2006. She completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, and worked as a primary care pediatrician in underserved communities in San Francisco, Orange County and San Jose before settling in San Luis Obispo with her family.
