322 Characteristics of Mental Status Changes: Medical Versus Mental Health Etiology
Description
Incarcerated individuals often present to health services and/or mental health professionals with changes in mental status. Medical pathologies are commonly misidentified as mental health pathologies and vice versa, frequently resulting in adverse outcomes. This presentation will help participants to more clearly identify characteristics of mental status changes with a medical etiology versus those with a mental health etiology.

- Recognize clinical signs of mental status changes from a mental health perspective
- Review potential interventions for individuals experiencing mental status changes
