Jails and prisons are the largest mental health facilities in the nation. No matter how hard we try to defer entry into the correctional setting, those with mental illness find their way through our doors. Implementing mental health service standards in correctional facilities can remove barriers to assisting individuals with mental illness, while also helping achieve peak organizational performance.
