Dr. Alma Mia Martija is a trained anesthesiologist but has spent the last 11 1/2 years in primary care, eight of those years in corrections, the last six at the DuPage County (IL) Jail.  She received her CCHP in 2016 and her CCHP-P in 2019 when she became Medical Director at the DuPage County Jail.   She started her career in corrections with Wexford Health Sources at  Stateville Prison, a maximum security prison in Illinois, and she has also been employed by Advanced Correctional Health as a physician to the county jails of Grundy, Bureau, Cambridge, Lee, Whiteside, Pontiac, Kendall and Kane County Juvenile.
