Mrs. Rachel Bray began her career with the Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RIDOC) in 2004. Mrs. Bray earned an associate's degree in law enforcement from the Community College of Rhode Island, and a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Johnson and Wales University, graduating in 2010. In 2017, Mrs. Bray was promoted to Lieutenant, supervising officers who oversaw the awaiting trial offenders and the special management offenders housed at the Women's Facility. In 2018, Mrs. Bray attended the National Jail Leadership Command Academy (NJLCA), Class #29. In 2020 and 2022, Mrs. Bray returned as a mentor for NJLCA to inspire and influence other leaders. Mrs. Bray earned RIDOC Supervisor of the Year in 2020. Over the past few years, Mrs. Bray has traveled to different agencies across the country to discuss considerations when implementing MAT Programs, stigmas to overcome, and how to get staff buy-in. In October 2021, Mrs. Bray was promoted to deputy warden and is currently assigned to the Intake Service Center, a facility that houses men awaiting trial or classification. Mrs. Bray oversees life issues for the incarcerated and is the PREA compliance manager and facility grievance coordinator.
