Mr. Gerald Jorgenson has 41 years of experience in hospital-based, correctional, and mental health areas of nursing. After earning a BSN and an MBA, he spent 24 years in progressive leadership positions in the Missouri and Arkansas correctional systems, with responsibilities for all medical and mental health care provided in the Kansas Department of Corrections through the private health care provider, Corizon. In 2017, he began consulting at four of Kansas' state mental hospitals for the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services through a contract with the University of Kansas Medical Center. He currently serves as the health authority for the Kansas Department of Corrections.
