Our study demonstrates that incarcerated individuals experience delayed diagnoses and treatment, or no treatment, of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, which results in further hospitalization or increased severity of the disease. This study underscores the need for patients with IBD to be educated on the signs and symptoms of flares and the importance of timely treatment.
