The Indiana Department of Corrections identified an outbreak of invasive group A Streptococcus (iGAS), leading the Indiana Department of Health to switch its focus to an infection control assessment response. The IDOH infection prevention team worked with IDOC to create an Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) tool specifically for state prison infirmaries. This tool helps prevent infectious disease transmission and ensures compliance with infection control standards.
