437 Management of the Patient With Hemophilia*
Description

Management of the hemophilic patient poses unique challenges to the correctional health care system. Patients with severe disease require frequent intravenous infusions of factor to prevent bleeding episodes. New advances to prolong factor half-life have led to less frequent infusions and free up nursing resources. Newer therapy options can eliminate the need for intravenous infusions, while curative gene therapy is now available.
