487 Moral Injury: Addressing the "Soul Wounds" of the Health Care Workforce*
Description

This mixed methods study examined experiences of moral injury in a variety of correctional health care personnel. Reaching beyond conventional notions of burnout, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue, this research sheds new light on the experiences of the correctional health care workforce and includes the voices of doctors, nurses, mental health professionals, dental assistants, recreation therapists, and more. Moral injury in corrections is defined and practice recommendations are offered.
