Description
Over 2 million people in the United States carry the genetic mutation of sickle cell disease and the disease affects 100,000 of these people. The speaker will discuss current statistics, genetics of sickle cell disease, blood cells affected, ethnic groups affected, complications that can manifest, and symptoms of acute flare-ups and treatment. This talk will be interactive to foster participants' understanding of the information.
