Description

This presentation addresses the potential positive patient outcomes of training all correctional staff, including health staff, in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Health care team members were trained in the four core DBT principles, mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness, to foster a therapeutic environment that promotes emotional stability, resilience, and positive behavioral change among residents. Participants will be provided with a DBT skills quick reference guide and practice implementing DBT skills using practice scenarios.
