Description
While cancer is the leading cause of death in prisons, cancer screening is challenging to implement and faces numerous barriers in this setting. This presentation aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of cancer screening in correctional facilities. We will discuss the importance of cancer screening, review cancer screening guidelines, discuss what the medical literature says about barriers to cancer screening, explore strategies to improve screening in correctional facilities, and close with a focus on linking patients with a new cancer diagnosis on screening to timely cancer care.
