This poster describes herpes simplex virus (HSV), a common sexually transmitted infection that spreads through direct contact. The incarcerated population is at higher risk due to overcrowding, lack of medical care, and risky behavior. Managing HSV in prisons is difficult due to limited physicians and treatment, causing high transmission rates within facilities and after release. Prisons should offer STI testing, sex education, antiviral access, and health care linkage after release to reduce infections and support those with HSV.
