Description

Rural jails across the United States encounter a unique set of operational challenges. This roundtable will discuss topics such as inadequate funding, staffing shortages, and limited access to health care and rehabilitation programs. Additionally, the discussion will address the effects of overcrowding, the rising rates of mental health and substance abuse issues, and the impact of geographic isolation on the delivery of essential services. The roundtable will give participants the opportunity to share best practices and identify actionable solutions to improve the conditions and outcomes within rural jail systems.
