Tattoos can carry deep personal meaning, but for some formerly incarcerated individuals and survivors of intimate partner violence, they may also represent trauma, control, or victimization. This poster examines tattoo placement and removal among formerly incarcerated and former gang-involved populations, with particular attention to the experiences of women and survivors of intimate partner violence.
