Skin conditions are a common reason for sick calls; however, the initial approach of moisturizers and/or topical steroids often doesn't address all the factors that contributed to the condition, or they are insufficient all together. This talk will review common skin conditions seen in jails, prisons, and detention centers and highlight important nonpharmacologic management in a fun, interactive quiz format.

Educational Objectives

• Review the etiology of skin rashes commonly encountered in incarcerated patients
• Describe the role of topical therapies as an adjunct to nonpharmaceutical interventions
• Counsel patients on healthy skin care techniques to help improve skin integrity and decrease the development of these conditions
