Dr. Mariya Leyderman is a licensed clinical forensic psychologist. She is appointed by the Louisville Metro Government’s mayor as the executive chief psychologist at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections (LMDC). Dr. Leyderman oversees all of the mental health, clinical programming, medication-assisted treatment, and officer wellbeing services at LMDC. She created the LMDC’s first officer peer support team and oversees it. Her clinical work has focused on trauma, substance use, and treatment of individuals who are justice-involved. Prior to her current role, Dr. Leyderman was contracted by Louisville Metro Government for the past 6 years as a trainer and consultant, where she developed and implemented training for correctional officers and police officers. She earned a master’s degree in social work at Tel Aviv University in Israel specializing in stress, crisis, and trauma, and she earned her doctorate in psychology with an emphasis in forensics from Spalding University, with subsequent training in federal prison and forensic private practice.
