Ms. Marlena Scherer currently works as a nurse consultant, program review in the Infection Control Division of the Nursing Services Public Health Program in California Correctional Health Care Services. Her primary responsibilities are development and support of the Correctional Health Care Infection Control and Prevention Program for the statewide prison facilities. Marlena received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Utah in 1998 and is a licensed registered nurse and public health nurse. Her career has included work in fields that span the health care spectrum from pediatrics and burn trauma to disaster health care management and public health. She is passionate about advancing the public health of underserved communities. Her current work is focused on improving infection prevention and control practices within the correctional setting.
