Dr. Eric Weintraub is a professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and the director of the Division of Addiction Research and Treatment. He is board certified in general psychiatry and has additional qualifications in addiction psychiatry. His expertise is in the treatment of opioid use disorder with medications, including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone. He has developed innovative telemedicine-based treatment programs to ensure access for underserved rural areas, and has published several articles reporting the feasibility and outcomes of these novel platforms. In 2020, this care and telemedicine treatment service delivery was extended to treatment of incarcerated patients in rural jails and detention centers.
