Mr. Wilson Uy has more than 14 years of experience planning, developing, and implementing clinically related programs within the Correctional Health Services (CHS) division of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS). He has worked in the inpatient and outpatient clinical areas within the correctional health system since 2002 and has excellent organizational skills. He has been the clinical nursing director II since 2011 at the CHS. Mr. Uy is currently assigned at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility (TTCF) which houses about 3,000 inmates, the majority of whom contend with mental illness. In 2017 he graduated from the Quality Academy Program at Los Angeles (LA) General Medical Center and has since been involved with several quality improvement projects. In 2018, he became a mentor and presenter for the CHS improvement program, specifically conducting presentations on quality improvement (QI) tools such as the root cause analysis, process mapping, A3 thinking process, and driver diagram. He has also conducted introductory QI presentations for newly hired nursing staff assigned to all LA County jail facilities. He has been granted the Continuous Quality Improvement 2023 Award and a certificate of recognition from DHS. In 2021, he received two certificates of recognition from the LA County Quality and Productivity Commission, followed by an achievement award from the National Association of Counties in 2023 for leading the STEP-UP Huddles on Early Detection of Highly Vulnerable Mentally Ill Patients program at TTCF. In 2024, he received another achievement award from the National Association of Counties for leading the Court-Ordered Long-Acting Injectable Psychotropic Medication Project working with the LA superior court system and Access to Care Bureau.
