Dr. Laura Bain received her PhD from the Food, Nutrition, Dietetics, and Health Department of Kansas State University in 2023. Her doctoral research analyzed prison menus and surveyed correctional dietitians to assess the state of correctional menus. Her industry experience includes food and clinical nutrition services in corrections and school nutrition. Dr. Bain worked in the Georgia and Utah prison systems as part of the medical and food service management teams providing nutrition support for over 150,000 daily meals. She also has a BS in dietetics from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the University of Utah. Currently, she works on health-related issues as a legislative fellow on the legislative team in the US Senate.
