Dr. Regina Williams, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, CCHP has been a registered nurse for over 20 years. She began her professional health care career at Parkland Hospital in 1994 as a health unit coordinator in the emergency room. Through perserverance and hard work, she subsequently became a labor and delivery nurse resident, care coordinator, case manager, nurse recruiter, value analysis coordinator/manager, and nurse director in managed medicaid, pediatrics, clinical operations, mental health/behavioral health as well as executive nursing leadership in healthcare.
Dr. Williams received her bachelor's and master's degree of Science in Nursing with a concentration in health care administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. She also holds a certificate in Nursing Education. Dr. Williams completed her Doctorate of Nurse Practice focusing on Healthcare Administration from Capella University. Additionally, she holds a certification as an Advanced Nurse Executive through the American Nurses Credentialing Center and has achieved Certified Correctional Health Professional certification.
She served on the board of trustees as vice chair for Texans Can Academy and served as a test writer and honorary awards committee member for the American Nurses Association. Dr. Williams currently serves as the vice-chair for the board of directors at Cars for Kids and recently was appointed by Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins to the Ryan White Planning Council for Dallas. She is a proud life member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc.
Since her 2021 arrival back to Parkland, she has made significant contributions and forward movement to clinical excellence in Correctional Health by decreasing nursing vacancy rates to less than 1% with no contract labor. She has advocated and increased visibility of correctional health within the organization and improved collaborative efforts between correctional health and Dallas County officers. Dr. Williams initiated and minimized workplace violence incidents in the correctional setting and implemented a clinical patient education program for substance dependency, sexually transmitted diseases and importance of vaccinations for the carceral population.
Dr. Williams and her husband run a nonprofit organization that assists homeless people and survivors of domestic violence released from re-entry housing programs. Their mission is to be a beacon of light in the community by using the thrift shop as a platform to pay-it-forward to others. Dr. Williams takes pride in her ability to mentor others and loves to volunteer in community service projects. Her philosophy to success is Be the CEO of your life!
