Ms. Meranda Hooker graduated from USC in 2024 with a Bachelor's degree in Global Health, achieving Magna Cum Laude honors. Currently, she is gaining clinical experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in San Diego, working in the subacute unit of a skilled nursing facility. She plans to apply to the Atkinson PA Program at the University of San Diego this upcoming year. Her first foray into medical research was at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, where she conducted analytical tests and led her research project on Clubfoot. She also has experience as a patient care representative at House Ear Clinic, where she managed medical records and assisted audiologists in troubleshooting hearing aid malfunctions. Presently, as a research assistant at USC Keck Hospital Norris Cancer Center, she is contributing to the GIFT research study, focusing on tracing cancer-causing genes in families of diagnosed patients. Beyond academics, Ms. Hooker is committed to healthcare, volunteering at the Keck Hospital Vaccination Clinic, and participating in science outreach programs, tutoring students, and bringing joy to pediatric patients. Furthermore, she is actively preparing for the PA program by taking relevant courses, continuing her work as a CNA, and volunteering for a dog rescue organization.
